How to make your Instagram bio stand out

An easy way to attract (or repel) people to your business is through your Instagram bio. 

An attractive bio will ensure you have more followers, resulting in more attention and more business. An unattractive bio will push away followers, resulting in negative (if any) attention and no growth in your business. 

So fix it. Below are tips to make your bio stand out. (Keep in mind we are only referring to business profiles–not personal.)

Tip 1: Include your industry

This tip may sound pretty simple, but it’s not. First, a lot of people go through the motions when setting up an IG account, so they may miss this section on their business profile. However, it’s also not somewhere you just type information in that explains what you do. IG has a long list of options from which you can choose your industry. The problem is that sometimes we fall into two categories. Your best option is to generalize and then be more specific in your description.

Tip 2: Include details on what you do (and location)

After your name and industry label, you have a small section to add details about yourself and what you do. I suggest using this section to dive into your business details and to show a little personality. Since we’re referring to business profiles, we suggest keeping family details to a minimum if including them at all. This spot allows for a little creativity, so add emojis and a bit about how you do what you do. Depending on your industry, you might also include where you are located. Service-based, brick-and-mortar professionals should 100% include your location.

Tip 3: Include a CTA and a site link

In your text area, I suggest adding a call to action. Adding a CTA helps prospects know how to contact you and what they should do when they get there. Following that CTA, include a site link. Whether you use linktr.ee or your website, including a site link is imperative.
